The picture to the left shows our house. It is divided into two apartments with approximately equal size. The lower part in which we live has a livingroom annex kitchen, sleepingroom, bathroom, wintergarden and storage. The higher part we built in the mid 90's to accomodate friends, relatives and other guests. A modern split level building that contains a comfortably furnished apartment with almost 70 m2 living space, the elevated location offers a magnificent view over the lush garden towards the sea, the islands of Rab and Pag and on clear days the 26 miles distant, up to 5400 ft high Velebit mountains. The balcony is the ideal breakfast place in the morning sun, but also to enjoy warm summer evenings under a myriad of stars.

The apartment has its own entrance on the north side of the building. On the balcony level there is the living area, with seating corner, diner and kitchen, as well as a bathroom with shower and toilet. On the same level there is also a separate sleeping room with a bunk bed and washing stand. There is satellite-TV, coffeemaker, pizza grill, refrigerator and microwave oven, plus kitchen utensils, dinner service and cutlery for 6 persons. The modern interior has some nostalgic accents on the overhead transverse above the living area: ancient farmers' tools and other collector's items from the surrounding countryside.
Six steps lead to the open sleeping area with an oversized secluded twin bed, two separate beds and a clothes cabinet. In 2017 the interior has been modified considerably to provide the comfort for a prolonged stay in winter. There are lounge chairs next to an automatic wood pellet stove, a wall mounted LCD TV and the storage area under the apartment now contains a large double door fridge/freezer and a washing machine.

And there is more! Such as a solar heated outside shower halfway between the apartments' entrance and the beach. Until sunset it offers an unlimited supply of warm water to flush away the salty sea.
Behind the house, surrounded by bay trees offering shade in the early afternoon, is a terrace with charcoal barbecue. Spices like bay leaves, oregano, mirth and rosemarin can be found in abundance in the garden.

Wintering in Croatia

Until recently, the apartment was mainly used during the summer months by family, friends and other guests. Because of our advanced age we would prefer rental for a longer period; especially in winter we would like some company and occasional assistence. Ideal would be an active couple willing to rent the apartment between October 1th and April 30th for a modest fee and capable to do some light maintenance work in and around the house. They would also act as caretakers during our short travels. The given period is just an example, because of existing obligations rental for the whole year is not yet possible.

It will be clear that not everything mentioned on this page applies also to the winter months. Average winter days are mild and sunny, but occasionally the mediterranean climate shows its other side with violent thunderstorms and rainfall. Most days however are suitable for long walks, fishing and even drinking coffee in the garden. Frost is not impossible but always of short duration.

fun at sea!Guests with marine transport are able to enjoy their stay to the full extent. Boating trips to the many sand-, pebbles- and rocky beaches in the vicinity make a holiday complete to everyone who loves watersports. For guests who bring their own boat there is a free mooring at a small pier in the southern egde of the bay, or for larger boats anchoring in the sheltered north side of the bay in a depth of 6 ft. A free trailer ramp and parking area are also available in the bay.
